SPACE FOR SWANA - About Us
SPACE FOR SWANA is a communal space for artists, organisers and activists to host meaningful events and fundraise for Gaza. A space to express yourself freely without fear of censorship. A space to unite hands, hearts and souls in solidarity with Palestine.
We will run as a three month residency from September 2nd – December 1st, at a two storey venue in Stoke Newington. Dear friends and architects, Julia & Jan, are designing the space and building the furniture in collaboration with interdisciplinary design studio Resolve Collective. Everything is going to be sustainably sourced, up-cycled and DIY with an artistic flair.
Some design features include a central, multi-functional table to facilitate workshops and supper clubs for 40 people, a 15 metre-long room and install hangings for exhibitions. A garden for planting herbs and hosting somatic practices. A sound-proof basement & projector for movie nights and immersive sonic experiences... the limit does not exist!
3EIB will host the space, and curate the cultural programme in direct collaboration with Palestinian artists living in Palestine, and grassroots creative organisations who are committed to social justice. The cultural programme will be curated through a decolonial and feminist lens, and each month will have a different theme inspired by the steps needed to imagine a free Palestine, and liberation for all.
